WHAT WE WILL EXPLORE: We will visit the monolithic Indigenous carving "Turtle Rock", the "Garrison Foundation" and the broken "Grinding Stone" in Great Brook Farm State Park. We will explore the relationship of these sites to King Philip's War (Metacomet's Rebellion) in 1675, focusing on Sara of Wamesit, daughter-in-law of the Musketaquid Sagamore Tahattawan who signed the agreement establishing Concord.
WHERE TO MEET: We will meet at the footbridge at the end of Meadow Pond on North Road (map coordinates: 42.5561134, -71.3401141). The terrain is relatively flat, but we will be walking on a dirt path with stones and leaves.
PARKING: There is limited parking next to the footbridge. Parking is also available in the main parking lot on North Road about 0.5 miles away.
