For those of you with older children who have graduated from CPS this may be a little repetitive.  But please keep reading as there may be changes from the last CPS graduation you attended.  If this is your first child graduating, here is a little primer to give you a sense of what to expect.
You will receive communications from the Graduation Committee and Dr. Mehler.  We will make every effort to include all of the information and details you will need as we go through this process.  Please read each message carefully so you don’t miss anything you need to know for your graduate.​
*These events need parent or guardian volunteers beyond the dedicated volunteers on the Graduation Committee.  Please know that these events cannot happen without your help.  Pleas sign up as soon as you can to help out.
**These events require parent or guardian attention to schedule an appointment or make a purchase if you want your graduate to participate.  Please watch for these communications and respond as soon as possible.

Graduation EVents

Hello Class of 2023 families, On behalf of the graduation committee, we would like to share some important upcoming dates and opportunities for you and your CPS graduate during this exciting season. It is a true pleasure to be sharing all this information with you. Please read all the information carefully as many of the opportunities are only made possible with your help! 
Graduation Logistics

• June 14th at 6:30, rain or shine! Please have your graduate arrive at 6pm so everyone can get lined up and ready
• We hope to hold the ceremony on the plaza so that everyone can attend!
• Ticket Information: Graduation Ticket registration will be open until midnight, Friday, June 2nd. After that, any remaining seats will be offered to those who have requested extra tickets. As you know, the Carlisle Public Schools 8th-grade graduation ceremony for the class of 2023 is on Tuesday, June 13 at 6:30 PM on the outdoor plaza which has unlimited seating. However; and ONLY IN THE CASE OF POOR WEATHER, the ceremony will be moved to the Corey Auditorium. Since the auditorium has limited seating, we ask everyone to register for tickets in advance. Families are allowed up to 4 seats per graduate. Families may also register to be on the waitlist for up to 2 additional seats.

• ONE PERSON per graduate (either parent/guardian) should complete the registration
• Look for your student’s name; click “sign up”
• On the next screen, you should see your student’s name under “8th Grade Graduate”
• Ignore the “Comment” and “Quantity, 1” fields (it was not possible to remove these).
• Enter YOUR name, email, and phone number (not your student’s). If there are any issues with your registration, this is who the Graduation Ticket Team will contact.
• Enter how many tickets you would like to reserve for your student (max 4).
• If you would like to be eligible to receive up to 2 extra tickets, click “yes.” The Graduation Ticket Team will use the email address you provided to notify you of any extra tickets.
• Extra tickets will be provided on a first-served, space-available basis after registration closes on June 2nd.
• The decision whether to hold the ceremony indoors will be made on June 12th

 Dress Code

• Please note that graduating students are encouraged to ‘dress up’ for the ceremony. Middle school graduation is a milestone ceremony of high importance and we want students to dress, and feel, their best on this special day. 
  In order to honor the individuality and creative expression of each student, we do not have a formal dress code for students at graduation; however, here are some suggestions to navigate this with your children. Please know that traditional white dresses are no longer an expectation as part of the ceremony, but students can wear these outfits should they choose. Similarly, a dress shirt and tie can also be an option but are not expected. Because our students sit elevated in front of a large audience, it is helpful to avoid excessively tight, low-cut, or short dresses. In addition, shoes with lower heels are suggested and less hazardous for our students who need to climb the risers and walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Light or dark pants may be worn; however, we ask that jeans, cargo, and carpenter pants not be worn that evening. Dress shoes are preferred and we request that sneakers, hiking boots, and hats not be worn.

Photography

• Sunday, June 11th. For those interested, Jill Goldman will be offering photo sessions free of charge to all graduates. Images will be posted to a website where students and parents can choose any images for a discounted price of $50 each and receive an 8x10” (or 5x7”) print and Photoshopped digital negative to print and use how they like. When you own the digital negative it allows you to print graduation announcements, and holiday cards and make unlimited prints! Thank you, Jill!! Please use the linked sign-up to schedule your session.

8th Grade Slideshow Retrospective

• The Graduation committee will be putting together a slide show of all of the students to show after the Treasury breakfast which will be held on Tuesday, June 13th in the CPS cafeteria from 8 am - 8:45 am. Please upload any pictures that you want to share of your graduate from newborn all the way through to today. We encourage pictures of special events along with photos of field trips, school events and spending time with friends. Please make sure the photos are tagged with the graduates name(s). 

Writing Treasury Breakfast with Marcella Pixley

• Tuesday, June 13th @ 8 am -8:45 am. Slide show to follow in the auditorium. ​

Community Service Day

• A campus clean up will be held on Monday, June 12th from 1:30-3 pm on the plaza. Students, along with any parents available to help, will be cleaning up the plaza by laying mulch down and tidying up the area. All supplies will be provided, just need the helping hands! For parents that can help, just show up on the plaza at 1 pm.

Graduation Reception

• Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a reception with light refreshments and desserts.

Graduation Party
Please RSVP for the Graduation Party to be held on Wednesday, June 14th. 

We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone achievement together! It’s going to be great, and we thank you for your support (and volunteer efforts!) in advance.
