CARLISLE PTO PEER PARENT
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Thank you for considering the PTO Peer Parent Program as an opportunity to volunteer and assist a new family as they enter the Carlisle Schools. The program is quite simple, we match a new family parent with a current family parent who can serve as a Q & A resource for the new parents. We will make every effort to match parents with at least one child in the same grade.
Your responsibility is to send an initial email or make an initial telephone call to the new parent. Introduce yourself and let the new parent(s) know that you are available to answer questions about the school. You can do as much to welcome or assist your new parents as you would like, but we only expect you to introduce yourself and then respond to questions as your new parent asks them. The inquiries may be about school or community resources and activities. And if you don’t have an answer, you can forward the inquiry to the PTO Newcomer Coordinator, who will follow up with your new family.
Most of the correspondence from the PTO will be through the Newcomer Coordinator, via email. We will not be asking you to escort, host or do more than field questions via email or telephone. The busiest times will be in the first weeks or perhaps months after you first receive your new family information. Then as the new family becomes sure on their feet, they may not feel the need to contact you again. So this commitment may last weeks or months.
So now that you can see how easy and simple it is to be a Peer Parent, why not sign up?
Thanks,
PTO Newcomer Coordinator
